Removing stains and heavy dirt from laminate flooring

To remove stains from laminate flooring some special cleaning sprays are recommended for use. The agent is applied to the stain, and after a few minutes, is removed with a slightly damp cloth. Then the floor is wiped dry. It is strongly not recommended to use a hard bristle brush for this purpose – you will unlikely get rid of the stain, but the structure of the laminate flooring will be damaged.
Different methods of removal are used for the stains of different types.

For the stains of:

• juice, chocolate, alcoholic beverages and fat – special cleaning sprays;

• nail polish, lipstick, ink, pencil and resin – acetone or methyl alcohol;

• chewing gum or wax – mechanical methods (after drying of the stain it should be carefully scraped off).

There are also some peculiarities for different types of laminate flooring:

• Matte laminate flooring.
Such flooring becomes dirty very quickly, that is why it requires more careful maintenance and regular cleaning. To remove heavy dirt, use a special spray for matte surfaces. If you overdid with the agent, an oily film may remain on the surface, which can be easily removed with alcohol-containing spray.

• Polished laminate flooring.
On a smooth polished surface the slightest contamination is much more visible: hairs, dust and even water stains. So after cleaning it is always recommended to rub the floor using a special dry mop. Moreover, you should not walk barefoot on such flooring – the footprints are left on the surface, especially if some cream was applied to the feet before this.

Old wives remedy
If the previous cleaning methods do not suit you, use the old natural home remedy. Dissolve 1 tablespoon of vinegar in 1 liter of water. Soak in this solution a large clean piece of cotton or linen cloth and squeeze it out well. Cover the sofa or chair with this piece of cloth and begin to dust off with soft beats of a beater. Wash the dirty cloth, soak it again in the solution of water and vinegar and repeat dusting off, until the cloth remains clean after dusting.

Next, remove the condensation tube and check for algae. If you see that the tube is clogged, replace it or pour a solution into the tube through a funnel. Make the solution of 1 part bleach to 16 parts water. After that clean the drain tube. Use a small bristled brush or a pipe cleaner. Restart your unit. Hook the drain line back up and restore the power.

To clean the outdoor unit of a central air conditioner, turn off the power at the shutoff box on the exterior of your office. Check for leaves, weeds, grass, and other debris that may block airflow. Vacuum thoroughly. If necessary, straighten your fins with a fin comb and a dinner knife. Unscrew the grille on top of the air conditioner. If your fan has lubrication ports, apply 5 drops of oil made specifically for electric motors.

Lower a water hose into the empty unit and spray the fins from the inside out. After that re-assemble the unit. turn your indoor thermostat from “cool” to “off” and let your A/C to sit idle for 24 hours.
